Contact Lenses

Carefree vision with contact lenses

Contact lenses are an excellent alternative to wearing glasses. They are perfect for those who have an active lifestyle, play sport, take part in hobbies, or just prefer not to wear their glasses.

Contact lenses provide a full field of unobstructed vision, aren’t affected by fogging up or rain and are extremely convenient to wear.

In addition, modern enhancements in contact lens technology mean they are now suitable for most vision corrections, including short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

Types of contact lenses available

As your trusted, local provider of contact lenses we can provide you with a wide variety of options from all the leading manufacturers.

Daily disposable contact lenses are a great choice when it comes to convenience and hygiene, as they are discarded after one day of wear, so there is no need for cleaning and storage. They are also perfect for occasional wear such as social events and sports.

Re-usable fortnightly and monthly contact lenses which require nightly removal, involving cleaning and disinfection, can be a more cost-effective option for those wanting to wear their lenses more often than not.

Toric contact lenses are also available which provide clear and stable vision for people with astigmatism.

We also offer Multifocal contact lenses for those with presbyopia, allowing clear vision at multiple distances.

R. A. Glass Optometrists are one of the few specialist practices in Northern Ireland that offer Night Lenses (link to Night Lens page). Night Lenses provide an alternative to laser eye correction for those who want freedom from glasses and daytime contact lenses.

Contact lens fitting process

If you are new to contact lenses, our expert optometrists will carry out a thorough assessment of the surface of your eye and determine your suitability for lenses. During your consultation, we will discuss your vision needs, lifestyle and preferences to ascertain the most suitable type of lens for you.

We will guide you through the fitting process, teaching you how to insert, remove, and care for your contact lenses, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable all the way. You will then be given the opportunity to trial your new contact lenses before returning for a final follow-up appointment to make any necessary adjustments.
